Booting Linux from a Usb Flash Drive?
Hey everyone I have tried several times with several different linux types and have not been able to boot linux from a flash drive. I have tried to do it on two different laptops and the same thing always happens. When I change the BIOS to boot from the USB drive the screen goes black for a second or two and then Vista boots and I dont know why. I have tried multiple times and here are the two tutorials and linux distros that i have tried using:

I have also tried the DreamLinux distro but every time I tried to boot that one after selecting to boot from a USB drive it would tell me "cannot find kernel image: linux"
Has anyone else had these problems before?
Can they tell me what I might be doing wrong or what I could do different in order to get this to work?
I am using a Dell XPS 1330 laptop and an 8GB Scandisk flash drive. Thanks!
exactly the same thing I tried 2 days ago - I used the tutorial on the site pendrivelinux.com
Got the kernel error....
